Bless Ministries Church Getumbe
Getumbe, Kisii, Kenya
I am Zachariah Omayuoo Tinego. I grew up in a conflicted home in Kisii, a community of eastern Kenya. My dad was an alcoholic which caused turmoil in the lives of my family. He died when I was twelve years old. My brother was already grown so my sister and I continued to live with my mother through my teenage years. I made a commitment to myself that I wouldn’t turn to drugs and alcohol because of what my father put us through. I was weak in my commitment and found myself having to deal with the same problem. I managed to overcome my feelings and successfully got through high-school, graduating from flower planting in 2004.
In 2007 I started dating a young lady named Agnes Moraa. After dating for around six months we were in love, so we were married. We now have a four year old daughter. My brother and his wife had died leaving us with their son Chris. He was about one year old when he contracted pneumonia and we had him at the hospital under an oxygen tent. Agnes and I found ourselves in the prayer room praying for him, which became a real turning point in our lives as God answered our prayer to heal Chris.
God had been knocking on the door of my heart and I finally started to listen. From that day I started opening the Bible periodically to read. No matter what page I turned to, it was as though God was speaking directly to me. I realized something was happening in my life, however, I didn’t know exactly what it was. Looking back, now I know it was the Holy Spirit tugging at my heart to surrender my life to Jesus. A local pastor talked with my wife and I and we both accepted Jesus as our savior. We agreed with John 14:6, that He is the way, the truth, and the life. We were immersed in baptism and become new creatures.
We had been fellowshipping at Glory Chapel in Kisii Town at that time. I was working as a flower planter for about a year. We wanted to know how to really live in victory in our marriage as Christians so we asked our pastor for guidance. Pastor Peter asked us, “Are you praying together?” We answered, “Yes.” “Are you reading the Word together?” Again, we answered, “Yes.” “Well, then you don’t need me!” I’ve never forgotten that conversation. In fact I share that with couples today. If they will pray together and read the Word together, God will transform their marriage.
I have always had a heart for children and there was a great need for someone to teach the children’s ministry in our church. I took the position and God taught me a lot through teaching the children. I grew in my walk and commitment to the Lord through studying and preparing to teach these little ones.
We currently grow food and do chicken farming to assist us in the ministry and our personal lives. The sells from eggs and fryers helps us to maintain the orphans we care for. There is some left for us to care for our family. We use the connections of our chicken farming as opportunities to share the messages of the gospel.
In 2009 we move to a town where we could start some activities to support our family. We moved to Getumbe in the Kisii District. I started realizing people in this community did not know who Jesus is. They were involved in traditions of sacrifices and all types evil acts. We started a family prayer group to bring people together and discuss how Jesus can help people to life the ways that will honor God. We had to build a simple shed to start having a Sunday worship so we could show them how to worship God and I honor the call of spreading His word to the unreached and far places. My wife and I are committed to show people how to be followers of Jesus Christ.
Our Vision is to reach people in our area and beyond with the good news of Jesus Christ by sharing God’s word to in such a way people will LOVE, LIVE, and LEAD like Jesus did. In this way our hearts can be in a place where God can come and restore lives. We do this by the guidance of Holy Spirit who is the giver of spiritual gifts to the believer. (John 16:1-13; Acts 5:3-4; Titus 3:5; Matthew 3:11; Ephesians 1:13-14; I Corinthians 12:1-11).
We have now grown into a church with two congregations. Our home church in Getumbe has 75 adult members, 20 youth and many children that has developed into our Maranatha Kids Ministry.
Our branch church in Riokindo has 35 adult members with 12 youth and 20 children.
In December 2017 I was searching on the internet and came across Bless Ministries Mobile USA. After making contact with them and working through their partnership process, we were issued establishment letters and certificates of licenses for all of our ministers. Not having a name for our churches we chose to be Bless Ministries Churches for our two villages. This has given us a great future as we grow in the knowledge and grace of our Lord, Jesus Christ, and reach beyond our own villages to share the good news of the kingdom of heaven.
Thank you so much for reading through our webpage. We still have much to do and the needs are great, but we know God has connected us with Bless Ministries Mobile USA to assist us in our work. Please pray about what you can do to assist us here in Kenya. Your kind donation will go into good ground that will produce a harvest of souls for the glory of God.
Thank you an my God bless you
