Keeping Satan Back

How to Keep Satan from Attacking

Satan, is the devil: the fullness of evil that seeks to destroy all that is holy or good. 2 Timothy 2:26 teaches that the devil sets snares and takes captive people to do his will. John 10:10 shows us that he wants all people destroyed and even killed, to fulfill his will.

Is there any way we can keep Satan from fulfilling his will?

It has always been God’s will that Satan not be able to harm anyone. In 1 John 5:18 we are told being born of God keeps us and that we cannot be touched by the wicked one.

God has made a way we can live free from Satan and evil powers, but it takes effort on our behalf to maintain living in the Spirit. When we use the power of God in us as shown in this study, we can insure that the devil and all demonic influence has no effect on us.

The ways in which Satan is able to “touch” us is through the flesh or natural world. Though his existence is mostly in the spirit realm, everything he attacks is in a natural form. This is why his influence is always through the works of the flesh. All works of darkness encourages the desires of flesh (Gal. 6:19-21). He is unable to harm us in the spirit realm: if he could, then he would be able to keep us from salvation. When Satan attacks the mind, this too is in the flesh, the flesh of your mind not the spirit (Col. 2:18; Eph. 4:14-19).

Using the Fruit of the Spirit (Gal. 6:22-25)

And the Armor of God (Eph. 6:10-18),

Will help against the works of the flesh.

Another device of Satan is to steal away the Word of God as we are learning what the word teaches. In Mark 4:10-20 is the story of the Sower. In verse 15 Satan comes and takes away the word that was sown in the hearts of those who heard it. He does this by using the following against us:

  • Affliction (troubles and problems)

  • Persecution

  • Cares of the World (worry)

  • Deceitfulness of riches

  • Lust of things (greed)

  • Lust of the flesh (sexual)

  • Lies

John 16:33

“These things I have spoken to you, that in me you may have peace. In the world you will have tribulation; but be of good cheer I have overcome the world.”

The way we become untouchable by Satan and his devices is by living in the Spirit (Eph. 5:25).

It is here, abiding in the spirit, that Satan cannot touch us. He does not have ability in the Spirit of God:

  • In the Spirit of God we are protected by the power of God (John 10:29-30).

  • In the Spirit of God we are able to use the power of God in us:

The Fruit of the Spirit (Gal. 6:22-25)

The Gifts of the Spirit (1Cor. 12:8-10)

The Armor of God (Eph. 6:10-18)

  • In the Spirit of God we can take charge over all demonic power (1John 4:4 and Philp. 4:12-13).

  • In the Spirit of God we have ability to crucify our flesh (Gal. 2:20; 5:24), then Satan cannot affect you, your flesh is dead.

  • In the Spirit of God we can live in the spirit of your mind (Rom 12:12; 1Cor.2:16; Philp. 2:5).

  • In the Spirit of God we can resist Satan in the natural realm (James 4:7; 1Pet 5:9).

Speaking confessions and declarations over your circumstances will also keep Satan controlled.

Making confessions over any situation in life, and using Scripture as part of that confession, will help to take control over Satan or demons. These declarations should be quotes of scripture stating truths that confess who we are and what we have in Christ.

Examples:

  • Any part of Deut. 28:1-14.

  • Any part of the Psalms especially 1:1-6; 89:1; 100:1-5.

  • Isaiah 49:5-6; 54:17.

  • Rom. 8:1-2

  • Gal. 2:20

There is a place you can get where Satan can’t touch you.

It is a place where you live holy while using the fruit of the Spirit, the gifts of the Spirit, and the Armor of God to control demonic powers. It is that place where you take command over Satan in the name of Jesus Christ as you make confessions and declarations over your life.

This is a wonderful place where you are in control by using the power of God in you, through the Spirit of God, which you have received through spirit baptism.

Yes there is a place you can go where neither Satan nor demons can bother you!!

It is a place you can be in now, without waiting until you get to heaven. It is a place you are able to stay in and abide, while in this life, if you are willing to do as stated above.

Let’s abide there and keep Satan from attacking at his will.

It must be understood that Satan wants all people defeated, devoured, and dead (John 10:10; 1Pet 5:8). His methods for success are slow and easy, using human weaknesses to ensure his final result.

We do not have to be taken in by Satan, nor tormented by demons under his control. We can understand the devices these workers of evil use and stop them from taking advantage of us (2 Cor. 2:11).

The first problem is that many people do not believe Satan/the devil is doing things to harm them. In fact, many do not believe Satan is real or they do not understand his desire to see us destroyed. Satan is so real he is working every moment to devour humanity (1 Peter 5:8; Ephesians 6:12).

The next problem is there are people who will blame God for things that go wrong while giving Satan credit for doing spiritual activity that is only from God. God is blamed for sickness or disease while anyone causing healing for that same sickness is said to have evil powers. This is what the Pharisees did with Jesus in Matthew 12:24-28. They said Jesus cast out demons by Beelzebub.

Realizing Satan is real and learning how to use the power of God in you to defeat demonic power, will keep Satan from being able to attach you or touch you in any way.
