Law of the Mind

Controlling the Mind and Learning to be Productive

The Bible teaches us there is a law of the mind that wars against the sin that is in us, Romans 7:23.

The law of the mind teaches us that we do not have to live in the flesh but we can live in the Spirit and take control over our flesh, Romans 8:1-9.

There are two parts to the mind:

  • The mind of the Spirit, Romans 8:5,6,27; Ephesians 2:3; 4:17,23.

  • The mind of the flesh, Romans 8:5-8; Colossians 2:18.

We are capable by the Spirit of God to control our mind of the flesh by crucifying the flesh, Galatians 2:20; 5:24. Then our flesh does not respond to anything because it is dead to Christ. Something that is dead cannot respond.

You may think being attacked in the mind is a spiritual attack but it is not because of the two parts of the mind. Demonic only attacks the flesh of the mind. The spirit of the mind is God’s and demonic power does not have authority there.

How to refresh yourself in the mind is by ‘renewing the mind” through Bible study, meditation, and crucifying your flesh daily, Ephesians 4:23-24; Romans 12:2; Colossians 3:10.

Great Scriptures to read are the first 35 Psalms for encouragement and learning to not walk in fear. Then read any of the Psalms, just scan the titles over each psalm for things you need encouragement with. “God has not give us a spirit of fear, but of power and love and of a sound mind.” 2Timothy 1:7.

The way we become untouchable by Satan and his devices is by living in the Spirit (Eph. 5:25).

It is here, abiding in the spirit, that Satan cannot touch us. He does not have ability in the Spirit of God:

  • In the Spirit of God we are protected by the power of God (Jn 10:29-30).

  • In the Spirit of God we are able to use the power of God in us:

The Fruit of the Spirit (Gal. 6:22-25)

The Gifts of the Spirit (1Cor. 12:8-10)

The Armor of God (Eph. 6:10-18)

  • In the Spirit of God we can take charge over all demonic power (1John 4:4 and Philp. 4:12-13).

  • In the Spirit of God we have ability to crucify our flesh (Gal. 2:20; 5:24), then Satan cannot affect you, your flesh is dead.

  • In the Spirit of God we can live in the spirit of your mind (Rom 12:12; 1Cor.2:16; Philp. 2:5).

  • In the Spirit of God we can resist Satan in the natural realm (James 4:7; 1Pet 5:9).

Speaking confessions and declarations over your circumstances will also keep Satan controlled.

Making confessions over any situation in life, and using Scripture as part of that confession, will help to take control over Satan or demons. These declarations should be quotes of scripture stating truths that confess who we are and what we have in Christ.

Examples:

  • Any part of Deut. 28:1-14.

  • Any part of the Psalms especially 1:1-6; 89:1; 100:1-5

  • Isaiah 49:5-6; 54:17.

  • Rom. 8:1-2

  • Gal. 2:20

Some declarations are:

Binding Bad Thoughts and Temptations:

“I am conforming to the image of Jesus Christ. My mind is being renewed by the Word of God and I am able to overcome the things of this world because Jesus who lives in me, who has overcome the world and has given me self-control through the Fruit of the Spirit that abides in me.” (Romans 21:2, 8:29; John 16:33; Galatians 5:22-23).

Commanding:

“I command you Satan (or demonic force) in the name of Jesus Christ, to have no power over me or my family. You have been disarmed by Jesus Christ. I bind you from touching me with any influence, illness, or difficulty. You must bow to the name of Jesus and leave me and my family alone.” (Ephesians 6:11; Philippians 2:10).

Life Affirmation:

“Lord, open my heart to the wisdom of God. Give me understanding and insights into living the life You have for me. Work in me a pure heart of integrity and let me see and choose the right road every time with no detours, no dead ends, and no wasted time. I have a divinely ordained purpose and destiny. I am special, made for a specific purpose. Therefore, I will fully align my life with the Word of God.”
