Not Ashamed of the Gospel
Romans 1:16
“I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ.”
The Gospel of Christ – the Good News of Jesus Christ.
I am not ashamed to share the “Good News” of Jesus Christ!!!
1. How can you be ashamed of something so wonderful?
No!!! I am not ashamed of the Gospel of Jesus Christ!!!
I am proud of it and I will let you know it!!!!
It should not take much to get a person talking about what Jesus has done for them.
This is what being "proud" of something does to you. All you want to do is talk about it.
Something you are ashamed of you will not talk about.
Paul is talking about an attitude toward the Gospel.
How can you keep quiet about something as marvelous as the Gospel of Jesus Christ?
Look at What Jesus did!
He left the glory of the father and came here
Lived in the human body
Became victorious over sin
Died on the cross for our sin
Rose from the grave
Ascended into heaven
Gave us the Holy Spirit
Gave gifts unto men
And now we can live with the same power and purpose He did. Because of what Jesus did we are able to live full of abilities, confidence, strength, and power to do all things for him who is our strength.
What we can do because of the Gospel
Overcome Satan and demonic powers
Have truth and revelation who God is
Overcome sin ourselves
Be healthy and not stay sick
Learn anything and not be held back
Do anything and be anything for Christ
Philip. 4:13
This is what we can do because of the Gospel of Christ.
2. The Gospel of Jesus Christ
Most know the Gospel to be: 1Corn. 15:1,3-4
This is not all that the Gospel is.
The Gospel is the Good news of Jesus Christ:
His birth - Life - Death - Burial - Resurrection
Post resurrection ministry - Sending the Holy Spirit
How he changed the world then and,
How he is still working in the lives of people today.
This is the Gospel of Jesus Christ.
The Gospel is still being written - In You
This message and all others you hear is changing you.
It is changing you because you either receive it or reject it.
If you reject it you are accountable.
If you receive it you being transformed into his image.
3. It (the gospel) is the power of God unto Salvation.
This is what Paul said in Romans 1:16.
The Gospel is the “Power” of God unto salvation.
The Power is the thing so often left out in the “Good news of
Jesus Christ.
If the Gospel is the “Power” of God unto salvation and you leave it out, you do not have the Gospel!!!!
When you allow the power of God work in you, you become capable of doing spirit things in such a manner day-by-day life experiences are controlled by the spirit in you. You accomplish this by using the Fruit of the Spirit (Gal. 5:22-25) to overcome things of the flesh and be holy; using the Gifts of the Spirit (1Cor. 12:1-11) to help ourselves and others overcome things that would keep us from being all that God wants us to be; and using the Armor of God (Eph. 5:10-16) to stand against the devil and all demonic powers.
Still people leave out the Power.
There are so many today that are reluctant in the Body of Christ to speak about:
Power in the Holy Spirit
Gifts of the Holy Spirit
Healing in the name of Jesus
Baptism in the Holy Spirit
These are things that come from the power of God unto salvation. This is what comes from the Gospel of Christ.
To not use these things is to pervert the gospel.
The Apostle Paul told the Galatians in 1:6-7:
“I marvel that you are turning so soon from Him who called you in the grace of Christ, to a different gospel. . .”
He went on to say, “but there are some who trouble you and want to pervert the gospel of Christ.
That was 20 centuries ago when he pinned those words and there are still people who refuse to use the true Gospel.
When Paul said he was not ashamed of the gospel he included it is the power of God unto salvation.
Here is how that power works.
(Pray) Holy Spirit move to give continued assurance to us who are saved and testify all these things to be true to any who are not saved.
(Wait and give the Holy Spirit time to work)
Ask: So now what are you going to Do?
