Your Anointing

Crisma (χρῖσμα) = anointing, unction.

Unction = holy instinct is unction from on high.

It is where we get the word “charismatic” which means to have, exhibit, or engage in spirit or divine power.

Anointing :

  1. A medical term used for healing and preparing the dead. Anything smeared on, ointment, usually prepared by the Hebrews from oil and aromatic herbs.

  2. Anointing was the inaugural ceremony performed by the priests for the sanctifying of someone in a specific position.

  3. The Anointing is referring to God’s power being placed upon someone.

  4. Your anointing is God’s power on you in such a way it generates His gifting in you.

With your anointing comes God’s power, knowledge, understanding and abilities to carry out what He wants you to do.

You must understand this is not about you, it is about Him in you! We are simply a vessel to accomplish His anointing and purpose.

The more humble you are, the greater you will be used:

John the Baptist said, “He must increase, but I must decrease” John 3:30.

God said of Moses, “Now the man Moses was very humble, more than all men who were on the face of the earth” Numbers 12:3.

1Jo 2:20 - But ye have an unction from the Holy One, and ye know all things.

1Jo 2:27 - But the anointing which you have received of him abides in you, and you need not that any man teach you: but as the same anointing teaches you of all things, and is truth, and is no lie, and even as it has taught you, you shall abide in him.

Isaiah 10:27 - It shall come to pass in that day, that his burden will be taken away from your shoulder, and his yoke from your neck, and the yoke will be destroyed because of the anointing oil.

James 5:14 - Is anyone among you sick? Let him call for the elders of the church, and let them pray over him, anointing him with oil in the name of the Lord.

Psalm 105:9-15

9 The covenant which He made with Abraham, And His oath to Isaac,

10 And confirmed it to Jacob for a statute, To Israel as an everlasting covenant,

11 Saying, "To you I will give the land of Canaan As the allotment of your inheritance,"

12 When they were few in number, Indeed very few, and strangers in it.

13 When they went from one nation to another, From one kingdom to another people,

14 He permitted no one to do them wrong; Yes, He rebuked kings for their sake,

15 Saying, "Do not touch My anointed ones, And do My prophets no harm."

Grow in Your Anointing

Don’t be afraid or anxious because of your anointing, but be desirous to fulfill it.

It is God’s anointing on you, he will bring it out of you by causing you to want knowledge and ability concerning your anointing.

If you will remain available and be teachable to do things God’s way, you will grow in your anointing the right way.

Practice makes perfect, but wrong practice makes imperfection/wrong perfection. So it is important that you learn things God’s way.

Integrity

The first thing you need to learn for growth in your anointing is how to gain integrity.

Integrity = quality rightness. Perceived rightness by others.

Doing things right all the time with quality.

Doing the right things right.

This would require a person to be respectful to everyone all the time.

You must be honest in your dealings and conversation.

True to the level of God.

You must be considerate by putting others before yourself.

Make people feel you are there for them even when you do not understand or agree with what they are doing.

Be helpful to everyone you can. Make sure they know you want to do things that are for their advantage.

If you are wanting people to follow you as a leader, you must do these things before they will listen to you. The way people perceive your integrity is how they will respond to you as a leader.

Scenarios

1. How do you get people to see integrity in you to where they like who you are?

  • Do not perform Christianity, enjoy and be Christianity.

  • Always do the right things right. Be quality rightness.

  • Don’t say one thing and do something else. Fewer words as possible.

  • Let them see they can trust you.

  • Never be obnoxious with people.

  • Give people room to make mistakes. Let them know you understand no one is perfect.

  • Be their blessing and not their curse.

  • Practice the Fruit of the Spirit with everyone.

  • Be consistent in all the things you do.

  • Finish things you start.

  • Never lose your temper with people. Kill your temper by crucifying it in Jesus. If it is dead, it cannot respond.

  • Be truthful enough to say you do not know, if you don’t. Do not try to buffalo people.

  • Ask for their help.

  • Be personable with people. Be there for them and make it about them.

When having conversations with people, talk to them about their work and their family first. Don’t make it about you.

  • Keep your mouth shut/private about your personal finances. Do not flaunt things in front of people. Live simple if you have much, and live blessed if you have little. Not in a sense of lying about what you have.

2. How do you get people to do something they don’t want to do?

  • Show them the purpose of what you want done.

  • Make them feel they are needed in it.

  • Ask for their help with it.

  • Do not back them into a corner. If they are made to feel they are in a corner, they will balk.

  • Show them how they can be a blessing in it.

  • Give them room to accept what you have shown and asked them.

3. An argument between two employees. You see it is a personality conflict, but they do not recognize this. What do you do?

  • Personality conflicts exist because integrity does not exist with either one of the people.

  • If you do not understand or practice integrity, you definitely don’t show it. What you do not understand or know you cannot teach others. You can’t teach what you do not know.

  • How do you get workers with a personality conflict to work together.

  • Teach them, there is more than one way to do things.

  • Teach them, they can agree to disagree.

  • Show them how they can trust each other more than their ability to do what each one thinks is right.

  • Show them what it means to have integrity.
