Bless Ministries Church
Bugiri, Uganda
I am Isaac Sifuna, the senior pastor of the Bless Ministries Church of Bugiri, Uganda. I work with an association of churches that ministers to communities who practice cult-like doctrines and we build churches to use the Word of God as their primary source for faith an practice. Equipping church with spiritual understanding is essential in our region of Uganda because so many are given over to doctrinal error. It is my purpose to help pastors and churches in Uganda understand what it means to fulfill God's will according to the Holy Bible.
I was born to Ojambo Bendicto and his wife Agatha Makhoha, who already had seven children. When I was four years old my father drowned in Lake Victoria. My mother was left with eight children and no employment to care for us. Life was hard so she left us with our older brother who was fifteen and a sister that was thirteen, and went to marry another man. We never knew what it was like to have a nice meal, but we survived by working in people's gardens, taking care of someone's cows, and babysitting other children. We survived on porridge during the day but at night we did not have anything for a meal.
It was difficult attending school because we had no way to pay the school fees. In 1993 a church in our community, the Lubanyi Baptist Church, partnered with Compassion International to release children from poverty in Jesus’s name, through providing Health and Education support. I was picked by the Friends of Smithton Fellowship Church in Australia, and sponsored to acquire my formal Education from primary schooling through university education. I presently hold a bachelor’s degree in social work and social administration.
Through Compassion International, in partnership with our church and their sponsorship programs, I happened to be a beneficiary that enabled me to know Jesus Christ and be nurtured to become a fulfilled Christian adult. It is from that call that we are now in partnership with Bless Ministries Mobile USA, and reach out to the most vulnerable and deprived children in our churches and community. We are enabling them know Jesus Christ through four areas of development in our church: Spiritual Outcome, Education Outcome, Health Outcome, and Social Emotional Outcome. These areas of development will help release them from poverty so they can grow up as fulfilled Christian adults.
Through the Smithton Christian Fellowship sponsorship I was able to attend a youth conference in 2011 that help me see my need and I accepted Jesus as my personal savior. After I returned from the conference I began ministering in the Busia Town Baptist Church as the church secretary. Later, I joined the Kitumba Baptist Church and worked as the church administer.
There is a lot of wrong teachings across Kenya. Many ministers are not taught in the doctrines of truth. I was online searching for good materials and I came across Bless Ministries of Mobile, Alabama, in the United States. I was impressed with their desire to equip ministries in spiritual truths and their discipleship teaching. They provided materials without cost, making their teaching available to anyone who wants them. When I made contact with Bless Ministries they were willing to work with us and endorse us to be a partner in ministry with them.
In 2015 I married Grace Mwesigwa. We were blessed to have two daughters: Patrina and Pardona.
Because I was too poor, in 2019 when I went off to work, my wife took all the household items and our daughters, and left me a note that she was marrying a man that was better off. Because I was so poor I was denied seeing my children by the divorce proceedings. I have remained single.
Our ministry was formed after seeing many vulnerable families and children being left no way to provide education and health support, and a lack of spiritual guidance to grow into faithful Christian adults that serve God well. We opened a the New Grace Junior School as a primary level of education, and the Kitumba Child Development Centre as a ministry to build up our community.
We have an association of churches that have been endorsed by Bless Ministries of Mobile USA. These churches help with the development center and school administration. We will use the information and materials provided by Bless Ministries to guide many churches and children's ministries into a better level of truth so the Uganda Christians can live better lives according to the Word of God as they develop in social, economic, medical, and educational skills.
We organize and carry out community outreach on child protection to reduce child abuse, teenage pregnancies, domestic violence by teaching families.
We also use nurses to teach community health and malaria prevention.
On September 23, 2023 we had our opening day for the Bugiri Manthano School of Ministries.
